Forget to Italy this season? NO!?! It only received a small line in the paper as 'reportedly'. More research begins.
Time to write a letter to the township begging for their hope. Maybe they'll comprehend what a mess a combination of another building and eliminating ground water drainage to sewage does to a basement. Yep, we flooded again last night. Now I'm in try to come up with an idea to slow the water mode. If there was an easy way - but no, of course not. If I could just get the township to put in drainage on the side of the road where all of the water runs (my side not directly across the road) I'd probably not have a water line a foot up on my garage door. Everything is moped up. On the bright side it forces me to clean the basement when this happens.

Okay, time to make like a champion and finish my one final assignment today. At least once I finish this assignment I can focus the next two weeks on my paper - which needs to be excellent to rescue my grade in the one class. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Told ya so. Sully and Bilodeau re-signed today as well, this dispells any rumors of Bilodeau hanging up the skates, welcome back guys. :)

I am a happy camper once again today! Last night I was treated to yet another belated birthday gift in a home made meal and cake (aww), thanks Phil. Also watched Gothika last night. Not bad. I'm not much of a Halle fan, but it was decent.

Now, to brighten my day further the pics of us at the Jubilee can be blown up now. Woohoo. Thanks Doug for taking pics - hopefully you don't mind me liberating the shot with Zehr. Now, let's see if the day can continue on a good path - maybe a signing AHEM. Move it ppl :)

Mmm, horror films on the horizon. The new M. Night Shyamalan movie comes out this weekend, and I've been seeing ads for 'Exorcist: The Beginning', SWEEEET.

I made my prediction today at work. By next Wednesday - someone I want to sign again this year will have done the deed. We'll see if my intuition pays out.

The lawn is mowed, and the dogs have froliced. It's been a good day.
A good Wednesday afternoon should always include an hour meeting with one of the cuties, and the direction given to him to invite me to another meeting tomorrow.

Alright, the people on my softball team area a pile of perverts. You've got us non-early 20's gals, and the cute little 23 year olds... and a few older guys, but we all know that women closer to thirty have the same mentality as the guys closer to 20. Ok T.S. I guess you're NOT the male-slut of the team.
Ah memories. At church this morning I found out a member of my church is buying the place we rented down on Saylor Street so many years ago. I was just talking about that place last night at the Blvd, and how nice it was to stroll down the hill for a drink and stumble back up at the end of the night. Got to tell Don, the owner, how much I missed that place while it was gone.

I also ended up finding Timberline cologne at a cheapy store. Scent is definitely one of those memorable things, so I had to buy a bottle. Also bought some supplies so I have them for the team baskets the fan club makes up every year, so I'm ready to roll for that stuff.

Most softball tonight. Next to last set of games. We'll see how this goes :) At least the weather hasn't been awful for our games - minus that first one. Can't wait to see if we make the playoffs. Summer is almost over, that's settling in - however, that still puts the hockey season too far off!

Saturday, July 24, 2004

Everyone welcome Bates, the Betta-fish, a new member of our household. I was debating on what to name him but missed the obvious, thanks to a friend he got a name on his first day here. He looks a little orange in the picture for some reason, but he's a lovely shade of Caniac/blood-red, and every bit as pretty as his namesake. It was either another ratty-rat or a fish, and I decided I'm more likely to have friends willing to tend to a fishy.

Tonight, since the dogs don't seem to want to play today despite the great breezy cool weather, I guess we'll go catch some grub somewhere.

Hockey news... get your hockey news right here! Well it looks like we've signed our second goaltender - Kevin Reiter. We also re-signed Mike James. As for bad news for one of my buds, who is greedy and wants all of her favorites to come back making no room for my favorites: Notermann signed with Peoria. :(

This evening I also hit the Ferndale Jubilee to work the table with the Cruisaders. Much to my surprise, Jeff Zehr showed. So, I repeal my commentary - apparently my sources don't have clue what he looks like with his hair cut *shame shame*. I'll forgive the hair misgiving however as it was nice to see him and get a hockey hug in to carry me over to the season. I was just motioning to give him a sticker, but if he wants a hug, who am I to refuse *smile*. I also got to meet his wife and kids, two cuties. Hopefully if the pics are posted I can snag one or two to share on here.

Lots of rumors and talk to pick up as well at such events. But we'll see how those things all pan out before I make any further commentary. We also watched the first game from last season (in amongst the 'work') so I got to watch the Paulie fights from early in the year.
Woohoo. Bought two more new games for the PS2 last evening. I don't play that thing anywhere near as much as I should *smile* I've never played Grand Theft Auto before, but I can see how people could get addicted (reminds me of late nights trying to kill one another at college on Mech Warrior and Midtown Madness for some reason). I also bought a Tom and Jerry fighting game (War of the Whiskers) *laugh* At least I was disciplined enough to finish my weeks assignments for my classes last evening before I started playing.

Ferndale Jubilee with the Cruisaders this evening, hopefully the weather will hold out. And, in case you need an update *92 days!*

Ok Mr. Zehr, why isn't your punk-ass in Johnstown working the camp like it's suppose to be? Tsk tsk tsk. Hanging up the skates? Things in my little hockey world are pretty quiet. Keeping the ear to the ground however for any developments of relevance to little ol' me.

I also see someone we know has taken up residence. Odd. I wonder what implications go along with that action. Maybe the BP was hiring.

I am still full from last night. Ugh. Too much food. The bread and salad was as delightful as ever. I did lose horribly at the official "Outback 'football' challenge" 14-10. CURSES. If we had played until Chris showed I bet I would have won. *grin*

Last evening the news broke that Roanoke and Greensboro have shut down. Two less ECHL teams. Rumor has it that a revised schedule will follow to replace those games scheduled to be against those two teams. I guess this definitely stomps my trip to NC plans as they were for March. Maybe we'll just plan on going for a Pens game in Carolina.

Latest and greatest on Bates... found through Fox Sports:

"There was some talk a month ago of the Carolina Hurricanes possibly trying to bring back winger Bates Battaglia, who was not offered a new contract by the Washington Capitals, becoming an unrestricted free agent.

His agent, however, claims it's "highly unlikely" that his client, who still resides in Raleigh, would be returning to the Hurricanes. Like most free agents, there has been some interest from other teams but no serious offers."

Get on it Mario!

I got even more flowers.... and yooooou didn't.  Damn, I'm one smokin' hot chic, with a house that is going to smell like a funeral home if this pace keeps up.  I may be old, but I'm not dead - don't get confused ppl.

I'm quite plumped up from lunch.  Mmm, peanut butter pie.  How the heck am I suppose to be a glutton at the Outback tonight?

I got flowers... and yoooooou didn't.  :P

Been seeing ads for "Farscape the Peacekeeper Wars" starting up in October on SciFi.  This will likely please my former other half greatly.  He didn't watch TV much, but that was one show I'd taunt him a bit about.  Wasn't a bad show, but it was fun to pick on him for actually watching a show.  Yea, Moya is dying in every episode :)  Regardless, I'll probably tune in, even though Creighton and Aeryn are likely to make me cry.

"Baby I'm ready to go. -Republica"
Why is it that our society is willing to let the anti-Christ (Martha Stewart) get off so easy, but we're shocked to see the womanizing moron elected to office call someone 'girlie'?  Do I think he's an idiot - of course, but I'm not surprised by this "breaking news".  Who exactly do you people think you elected?  Just because you're banging a Kennedy that doesn't mean you're a viable candidate.  Never mind the fact that by taking broad stabs at the Democratic party is, in essence, slamming your wife's family.

Then, with Martha, like good little chimps, we all run out and buy her stock and send things flying up 37%.  What is it with the end of trials and lawsuits that sends stocks flying upward?  Tell Bubba I said hi.

Now, I also want to ask why guys - ones that I know but I'm not more than acquaintances  with feel comfortable saying pervo things in front of me like "my balls are tight" or "it gives me a boner"?  Men are twisted.

Another weekend coming to a close, but I'm quite refreshed, despite a slight hangover today *ahem*.  Last night was a blast.  It started off with the Slipster and Thompson and I woofing down on wings at the Orchard.  They're slipping on their garlic supply on the wings, but it was good eats none the less.  I knew we wouldn't be there too long when the waiter said they were out of kahlua (after one black russian? - sad).  Okay time to hit the Haven.  We were joinged by Kirkus and Davey-baby joined us.

Leave it to slippy to pick the table next to Demo and Piro and not even realize it.    At least Josh doesn't recognize me, but Demo stopped on his way back from the bathroom to chat for a moment.  By that time I think I was into the second huge black russian there and feeling a little toasty.

Time to move on again and head to Jerry's.  A few more drinks, a little bit of whooping on one another on the game, playing 11-ball, and even more chattering.  I can't believe I let Jerry pour  me a shot of Crown Royal *ick* I knew I was toasty when even that didn't burn.  Blah.  Birthday celebration number 1 considered quite a success, even if I did get accused of getting touchy-feely when I drink.

As for today, I woke up long enough to send off Thompson and then to send off Davey-boy (damn house crashers) and wiped back out until around 2.  I haven't slept that late in years.  Made it to the softball game on time, we won the first game (yes a legitamate win!) and lost the second.  So much for our huge 4-game winning streak.  :)

Saturday, July 17, 2004

I woke up bright and shiny this morning feeling motivated.  Good thing too, as I accomplished one heck of a lot.  The house is finally clean again, the front lawn is remowed, all of the lawn is weed and feeded and re-seeded, laundry is done, groceries are procured... and all is well.

A few hours rest and time to head back out for a pre-emptive strike at celebrating my birthday with a few friends.  Mmm, Orchard Wings to start!  I can't believe July is mostly over - less than 100 days til the season starts back up, time is truly flying.

Friday, July 16, 2004

Just gawking at photos of really expensive houses in Raleigh and the surrounding area that are owned by guys who make a heck of a lot of money and will likely be in a lockout come September.  Yeah, trying to waste some time, what can I say.  One more hour and the weekend will, at last be here.

Looks like Bates' restaurant is slated to go in pretty close to some of the places I've been to, and darn close to where he still owns property (why does someone need two condos in one building?)  I have to wonder if there is any potential for him to play in Carolina again or if he'll just use those places as "home base".  Regardless after the eatery is in place I'll need to make a visit to catch up with old friends and old haunts.

If I plan things just right maybe the game against Greensboro is within reason, or if the NHL does play a Pens game?  Hmm.  Time to start making a list.  Abbey Road, J. Gilberts, Sushi Thai, ...what was that little Gothy club called Joe?

Thursday, July 15, 2004

Ahhhh.  A pedicure.  What an amazing foot rub.  Only problem is it was a chic, which made it very odd.  I usually find foot rubs to be a little more, well - ya know.  Eh.  It was still nice even if it was a little awkward.

I wonder if maybe I can fall asleep early tonight?
What is Carolina smoking? Sean Hill just signed with the Panthers. Ugh. The Canes are going to get driven to the ground. I just don't follow their strategies as of late (starting with canning Paul Maurice). The only smart move they've TRIED to make is offering Ronnie Francis a desk job (the smart part would be having him back in Carolina in some capacity).

*shakes head*

"First, and last, and always... mine. -The Sisters of Mercy"
Point of amusement in today's newspaper:
"You have the past, the present and, hopefully, the future. You look at the past, and the most popular guy to pull on a Chiefs jersey, in Rick Boyd. During the mid-years, Dmitri Tarabrin has been one of the most popular players to play, and from the people that I've talked to, Jeff Zehr is the future." -Tribune Democrat, July 15, 2004

So in Zehr's little journey to PA with his wife and kids in tow, does that mean mayhaps that he'll go ahead and ink his name to paper for this upcoming season? I certainly hope so.

And hey... who's in CA searching for Richard Paul on yahoo? Big bro, are you looking out for the word on the street on your little buddy?

Wednesday, July 14, 2004

Well today they announced a continued affiliation for the Chiefs with the San Jose Sharks, that's a plus. Not too much else exciting happening.

Ordered a few more DVDs. I figure it's about time to pick up all the ones that I use to have, but went with the other half. I was digging through the DVDs and I realized Vulgar is missing :( I guess I need to get another copy of that along with getting my Mallrats upgraded from VHS to DVD. I KNOW he didn't take that one, but I haven't a clue where it is.

Don't you hate it when you manage to lose things like that?
I think it's one of those go to bed way early nights. I just feel really off. At least the week is more than half-way over.

Tuesday, July 13, 2004

Welcome back to Chad Cavanagh and welcome to John Kozoriz, the Chief's latest signs. From what I understand Brent Kelly is getting a thanks for introducing John as an option, so doesn't it stand to reason that BK will agree to the terms of his offer?

Monday, July 12, 2004

Itch itch itch. It's on my mind now. Time to find a new artist and get some more ink... even if it's just a touch up on the one that's fading funny. If they can't do a touchup I guess I'll have to do a cover up, right? *grin* Mmm, green soap!

I have so many things I'd love to get inked on me, so I guess that makes me an addict. Maybe I should start contimplating another, but where to put it?

On to other subject, got the front lawn mowed tonight, but not weed-eated... eaten? Whatever. I am, once again, very grateful I live up on the HILL instead of down in Jtown. Although I bet my garage is trying not to swim as we speak.

"With any luck, I've allowed for all the time I need. -Tapping the Vein"

Sunday, July 11, 2004

We won! By forfeit. But we were there, warmed up... I can't believe none of them showed. *shrug* I did get the back yard mowed this evening, with much strain. About 1/3 of the way through the yard sputter sputter cut. Then it wouldn't restart *argh* I'm such a curse to mowers.

It took a little while but I got the darn thing started again and finished up out back before the pitch black set in. Pitch black which was not offset by the solar lights I purchased and installed earlier today might I add. Hmm. If they don't light up at all tomorrow either, back they go. At least I can say I tried.

Saturday, July 10, 2004

Made it through the family reunion unscathed. I got to chat with a few cousins that I really like and haven't seen in ... pretty much forever.

The evening was topped off however by consuming some delectiable eats and cake with my favoritelittle family here in Jtown. Nothing better than coming home with a full stomach, and the sweet smell of cloves on your clothing after an evening of chatting with some cool people.

Time to rest, tomorrow won't slow down much more either. Both good and bad - my brother brought me a mower to cover my rear, but of course that means I really should squeeze in some time for mowing tomorrow. Ah the joys of home ownership.

Speaking of which. I've also started plotting things in my mind for my bathroom. Although I guess if I'm redoing my bathroom in any way I really should tend to the apartment's bathroom, no? We'll see :)

Friday, July 09, 2004

Lord Stanley drew quite the crowd. I'm glad the city of Johnstown didn't let this one go by without a glance. A huge thanks to Dana Heinze for sharing part of his precious time with the cup with the rest of us.

Here's a pic of me with the cup. I have a few other shots of it - despite my camera being a bit goofy this past week. You can check those pictures out, as well as some of our shots from Niagra Falls and Toronto on my photo share, located here: Niagra and Toronto pics.

I was also surprised that the hockey interns at the arena seemed to remember me. *shrug* I guess I was there too much last season *smile* On a final note from my excursion to the arena today, we also caught a glimpse of the would-be jerseys for the 2004-2005 season. Looks like our jerseys will have the goofy looking ties in the front. I know I know, it's "classic" but just not my preference. Also saw our third jersey, which will be nice bright red.

Other hockey news, not sure why I didn't see this one sooner, but - Carolina decided to let Weekes out as a free agent. Ironic how not too long ago they had two amazing goalies which created issues as to who gets played, now they've pretty much tossed them both by the way side. *shrug* New coach, new ideals I guess. We'll see.

Also, Recchi has signed with the Pens again - after many years - he's baaaack! It should be interesting to see where the Pens take themselves this season. I'm truly believing they NEED something this upcoming year (if there is even a part of one).

Finally a tidbit of amusement, thanks to the Slipster for this one *grin* Someone made a boo-boo on their records, unless Richard Paul just enjoys playing at the ECHL level for sh*ts and giggles. He was listed as being an NHL player for the Columbus Blue Jackets on this site. Apparently someone failed to note he played for the Dayton Bombers (their affiliate) at the time. I think you should demand the pay that goes along with this Richard.

For fun... thank Drewfus for this linkage. Of particular interest: Schfifty-five (we'll call it a lame-ass tribute to the number *laugh*, weeee! (gonads and strife) (one I saw a few years back in NC), badgers, and especially the end of the world (what's going on eh?)
Going to see Stanley! La la la! Hopefully there won't be a 4 hour line there today, especially since the Cup will only be here for 3 1/2 hours. I'm guessing they'll have to make a decision as to when to start turning people away. The camera is in tow, and I'm ready to roll.

Hockey Land...
*Places Bates on a string and dangles him around the country* He's officially an unrestricted free agent, so where will the boy land?

I also see the Avs have a new coach and bumped Granato back to assistant coach.

Other stuff...
It's POURING. Go figure, the first day I think I left my car windows open all summer. *shakes head* If you see me swimming by, honk.

Tuesday, July 06, 2004

Ok, John Kerry has lost my vote. John Edwards with or without the s is still a douche (reference SouthPark). I would have loved to see him running for office with Clark, but I'm not shocked.

On a side note, back to work - time to start planning the next vacation *laugh*. So what shall it be? To the Carolinas to hop around my old stomping grounds? Mayhaps back to Key West to bask on a hammock? That Vegas thing sounds mildly entertaining, but I'm not really into gambling. Send suggestions people.

"Don't let my door hit your ass. -Blink 182"
I see this morning I missed news a week or so ago that the Mississippi Sea Wolves resigned Bates' younger brother, Anthony. Too bad the Chiefs never play them.

PS - less than 110 days to go.

Monday, July 05, 2004

Somehow I knew there had to have been a signing while I was away. Welcome back to Currie and Manzano!

Niagra Falls and Toronto ruled, even if I didn't get as much sleep as I normally do on vacations. Since there is so much to babble about, let's go for highlights: the hottie with the hockey gear strolling to his apartment, the Sushi dinner, the visit to Second City, the Falls, Whirlpool, Butterfly Conservatory, Niagra on the Lake, Wayne Gretzky's restaurant, the Hockey Hall of Fame and all of the little things in between. It was a very cool trip. Not even the hour plus wait on New York's classy roads to pay a toll could drag things down.

Thursday, July 01, 2004

At last - here's who Jtown decided to put on their protected list:

Courchesne, Pierre-Luc; Domkiewicz, Mike; Forget, Dominic;
Hildenbrand, Steve; Kelly, Brent; Leinweber, Chris; Mather, Shawn;
Sullivan, Jeff.
Some things just make me grin like a mad woman. Knowing that I have the power to irk someone so much that their hatred for me cannot be repressed. This is much more entertaining than when your feelings were outwardly demonstrated by merely ignoring my presence. Guess I had your attention for quite a while.

The paper I was completely lost on... perfect score. Explain this to me?

Last day to work until Tuesday! Probably not legal to bring a couple canadian hotties back across the border with us, is it?
