I'm feeling super blessed.  Turns out it was just the power supply.  I tried another one after work today and things started right up.  I'm so so so glad it wasn't something that involved needing to take the computer apart and tinker about in any way or slave the hard drive to pull my data.  Fortunately, I wasn't at the complete freakout mode over that (yet), but I was getting anxious to get home today and see if my debugging options were all for not.
